myNoise turns a browser tab into a free, ad-free sound machine you can tune for focus, sleep, or a loud room

A shelf of tunable soundscapes, paid for by donations instead of ads, and running in one tab.

The site is the work of sound engineer Stéphane Pigeon, and it presents interactive soundscapes grouped by what people use them for, including focus and creative work, sleep, and meditation, with the rest reachable through a full index. It is free to open and play, funded by an optional donation the site sets at a recurring five dollars a month or a one time ten to thirty dollars in return for lifetime privileged access, and it states plainly that it is ad-free and respects user privacy. Alongside the browser version there are iOS and Android apps and Alexa support, and patrons are reminded that the audio is for personal use only. It reached the Hacker News front page on August 9 with 215 points and 164 comments, on a post from the creator's own vlog about living with tinnitus; treat it as a sound generator you can tune, not as treatment for anything.

Keep and Ponder

The useful work is finished. Keep what is true, ponder what matters, and entrust the rest to God.

Keep

I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.
Psalm 4:8, KJV

Ponder

Name one thing that can remain unfinished until morning.

Entrust

God of peace, hold what I cannot finish, and let me receive this night as a gift. Amen.

A practice shaped by Luke 2:19Guided by the biblical witness of Mary of Nazareth.
