He states the persona, the task, the output format, and the context up front, asks for a step-by-step plan before any execution, and hands the mechanical steps off to other free chatbots. He also matches the model to the job: Haiku carries quick answers, summaries, and simple extraction at the lightest rate use, Sonnet is held back for coding, writing, analysis, and multi-step work, and the effort control, which defaults to Medium, comes down when a task does not need it. Before a session runs out he has Claude write a handoff summary he can upload into the next chat, and he keeps standing instructions and reference files in Projects, which Anthropic's documentation caps at five for free accounts.
