Chrome for Android reads any article aloud, and the audio keeps playing with the screen off
The reading backlog you never get to is already listenable on the browser you already have.
Android Police's Anu Joy, writing on September 4, works a saved-article pile down with a Chrome feature most people never open: on Chrome for Android, tap the three dot menu on an article and choose Listen to this page, and a playback bar appears and the reading starts. Standard playback reads every word exactly as written and lets you pick a voice; a separate AI playback option instead generates a podcast-style conversation between AI voices based on the article, which is a discussion of it rather than the words on the page. Playback speed is adjustable, ten second jump controls sit in the bar, a Highlight text and auto scroll toggle follows along on screen, and the audio continues when you lock the phone, switch tabs, or turn the screen off, which is what turns a fifteen or twenty minute read into a walk or a commute. The honest limit is coverage: the option does not appear on every page, so some articles simply cannot be handed to it.
