Ente Photos gives a phone and a laptop the same encrypted camera roll backup, and 10GB of it is free forever
The photo library is the folder almost nobody keeps a second copy of, and this one closes the gap without running a server at home.
Ente Photos is an open-source, end-to-end encrypted home for photos and videos that runs on Android, iOS, the web, Mac, Windows and Linux, with automatic backup, shared albums, public links, curated memories and on-device AI. The free account holds 10GB forever. Paid plans start at $2.49 a month for 50GB, then $4.99 for 200GB and $9.99 for 1,000GB, billed yearly at $29.88, $59.88 and $119.88. Ente says every file is kept in three geographic locations and that its code has been through a cryptography audit. How-To Geek's Goran Damnjanovic named it first on Tuesday in a roundup of Google Photos replacements that spare you the self-hosting.
