Your Android phone can stand in for the webcam on your Windows 11 video calls, and the setup is free and wireless
The webcam you were about to buy is probably already in your pocket, and it already talks to your PC.
Windows 11 can take a camera feed from an Android phone over Wi-Fi, and XDA's Abhishek Kumar Mishra sets it up with three pieces: the Link to Windows app on the phone, the same Microsoft account signed in on both devices, and the "Use as a connected camera" switch in the PC's mobile devices settings. After that the phone appears as a camera in Google Meet and the Windows Camera app with no further configuration, and you can switch between the front and rear lenses or turn on Blur, Soft Focus and Auto Framing. The cost is attention rather than money: Mishra reports the phone screen has to stay awake, because the feed does not work when the handset is locked, and leaving the screen on drains the battery faster.
