WizTree maps every file on your drive by size, and it found 200GB of forgotten data on one 512GB laptop
Storage disappears quietly, and the quickest way to see where it actually went is a download smaller than most photos.
WizTree draws every file on a drive as a rectangle sized to the space it occupies, and it reads the NTFS Master File Table directly instead of walking folder by folder, which is why its own site claims it runs 46 times faster than WinDirStat. Version 4.33, dated September 16, 2026, comes as a 4.9MB Windows installer, a 7.4MB portable build, or a 4.4MB disk image for macOS 12 or later, and it is free for personal use. XDA's João Carrasqueira pointed it at the 512GB drive in his laptop on October 2 and found roughly 200GB of forgotten virtual machine and operating system files, with Windows itself taking 30GB and a 6.3GB hibernation file still sitting there although he had hibernation switched off. He is honest that your own map will look nothing like his, which is rather the point of running the scan yourself.
