Iran strikes Kuwait's power and water plant for a second day as Gulf tensions widen

A war now more than a week old is reaching into the Gulf's power grid, water supply and oil markets all at once.

Kuwait said Iranian fire hit a power and desalination facility for the second consecutive day, sparking a fire, as the United States carried out an eighth straight night of strikes on Iranian targets including the partly built Darkhovin nuclear plant, which the IAEA said held no nuclear material. Bahrain reported intercepting incoming missiles and drones, and Jordan said it shot down three of four Iranian missiles fired at it. The escalation follows the deaths of two US service members in an earlier Iranian attack in Jordan, the first confirmed US combat fatalities of this phase of the war, and comes as Kuwait's oil sector reports separate damage and Brent crude holds near multi-week highs on fears of a wider Gulf supply disruption.
