Applied Materials posts a record $9.12 billion quarter and guides to $10.25 billion
The largest chipmaking equipment supplier just booked its biggest quarter ever, and told investors the next one will be bigger.
Applied Materials reported record third quarter revenue of $9.115 billion on August 13, up 25 percent from $7.302 billion a year earlier. Non-GAAP earnings were $3.50 per share, up 41 percent, on non-GAAP operating income of $3.096 billion and a non-GAAP gross margin of 50.4 percent. Semiconductor Systems, the equipment business, contributed $7.04 billion, split 67 percent foundry and logic, 26 percent DRAM and 7 percent flash memory. The company guided fourth quarter revenue to $10.25 billion give or take $500 million, with non-GAAP earnings of $4.02 per share give or take 20 cents.
