John Ternus becomes Apple's chief executive on Tuesday as Tim Cook moves to executive chairman
Apple's long-planned succession reaches its effective date, handing the company to an engineer who arrived in 2001.
John Ternus becomes Apple's chief executive on September 1, and Tim Cook moves to executive chairman of the company's board. Apple set out the handover in an announcement in April, naming Ternus, who joined the company in 2001 and has led Apple's hardware engineering group, as Cook's successor. Cook said Ternus “has the mind of an engineer, the soul of an innovator, and the heart to lead with integrity and with honor.” Ternus said he was “profoundly grateful for this opportunity to carry Apple's mission forward.”
Scripture for Reflection
“Plans fail for lack of counsel, but with many advisers they succeed.”
When responsibility changes hands in our own lives, we can seek counsel early rather than carry the weight alone.
