OpenAI ships GPT-6.1 Sol at one-fifth the token price of GPT-6 Astra, with more than 20 DevDay announcements

Cheaper frontier coding, hosted agents, and a shared team workspace all landed on the same day.

OpenAI used DevDay on Tuesday to introduce GPT-6.1 Sol, a model it says improves coding and computer use while charging one-fifth of GPT-6 Astra's standard token prices. The company also opened a public beta of an Agents API with hosted execution, memory, tool integration, and multi-agent coordination, moved Codex to a cloud mode that runs tasks in the background, and added a paid Ultrafast tier it says generates tokens up to eight times faster in Codex and six times faster in the API. Always-on agents called Dots began rolling out to Pro subscribers on web, mobile, and desktop, excluding the European Economic Area, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom. A new ChatGPT Space gives teams a shared home for files and project context, and a Pro 500 plan raises the usage allowance twenty-five times.

Scripture for Reflection

“I, wisdom, dwell together with prudence, and I find knowledge and discretion.”

Capable tools reach our hands faster than our judgment matures, and we can ask for prudence and discretion before we ask for speed.

Scripture for Reflection

“Plans fail for lack of counsel, but with many advisers they succeed.”

Large commitments are safer when several trusted voices have weighed in, and we can seek that counsel before our own big decisions.

Carnival posts record third-quarter results and lifts its full-year earnings outlook

Records across the board Revenue of $8.435 billion and net income of $1.920 billion set highs, customer deposits reached a third-quarter record of $7.6 billion, and full-year adjusted earnings guidance moved to about $2.24 a share.

Scripture for Reflection

“Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, for God has said: “Never will I leave you, never will I forsake you.””

Record quarters and thin ones both pass, and we can practice being content with what today actually holds.

Volume over margin Net revenues rose 19.5 percent to $7.9 billion and diluted earnings reached $1.16 a share, while gross profit per retail used unit slipped $111 to $2,105 under continued pricing actions.

Scripture for Reflection

“Do you see a man skilled in his work? He will be stationed in the presence of kings; he will not stand before obscure men.”

Skilled, unglamorous work usually shows up in the results eventually, and we can give our own work that same patience.

Freezing droplets explain the strange chemistry of Enceladus ice grains

Salt sorts itself Work published in Science Advances found that ocean droplets freezing at about ten kelvin per minute or slower separate their salts before shattering, matching the varied compositions Cassini recorded across 961 mass spectra.

Scripture for Reflection

“Lift up your eyes on high: Who created all these? He leads forth the starry host by number; He calls each one by name. Because of His great power and mighty strength, not one of them is missing.”

A small moon keeps yielding new detail, and we can let that widen rather than shrink our sense of wonder.

Physicists demonstrate a long-sought entangled measurement for three-photon W states

A 25-year gap closed Teams at Kyoto University and Hiroshima University used a quantum Fourier transformation inside a photonic circuit to tell W states apart, a step toward quantum teleportation and measurement-based computing.

Scripture for Reflection

“The heart of the discerning acquires knowledge, and the ear of the wise seeks it out.”

Twenty-five years of patient searching produced this result, and we can bring that same persistence to what we are still trying to understand.

Letters to the King
How do you lead people who remember exactly what you used to be?
From the Baker's own shelf

Dear friend, they remember the boy with the sling, the harp, and the smell of sheep that no crown ever quite scrubs out. Let them. I learned early that a man who spends his strength hiding his smaller self has none left over for leading, so I stopped arguing with the memory and let the work answer it instead. Lead the way you would have wanted to be led back when you were the small one they recall: plainly, patiently, and without pretending you arrived by some grander road than the one they watched you walk. They saw you stumble, which means they will also see you rise, and the rising will teach them more than any speech you could polish. And on the day pride whispers that you have outgrown the people who knew you first, go stand a moment in the pasture of your memory. The God who called me out of it was never once embarrassed by the sheep.

– David, son of Jesse
Letters answered in the voice of the biblical King David.
