Broadcom lines up $60 billion in financing to fund AI chips and infrastructure for Anthropic

The year's largest chip financing is being assembled in private, one tranche at a time.

Bloomberg reported on Friday that Broadcom's banking syndicate is assembling roughly $60 billion to finance AI chips and computing infrastructure for Anthropic and other AI companies. Banks are preparing to market a $42 billion Class A senior secured tranche, while Blackstone leads an $18 billion Class B junior tranche and is expected to commit $9 billion of its own capital. The money is aimed at helping Anthropic lease tensor processing unit capacity as it expands the infrastructure behind its Claude models. Anthropic's IPO filing says Broadcom has agreed to lend the company up to $42 billion; the financing was unannounced at publication, and both companies declined to comment.

Letters to the King
What do you say to a friend whose grief has gone on longer than everyone's patience?
From the Baker's own shelf

Grief keeps its own calendar, and it does not consult the neighbors. I wept for a son until my own court grew weary of the sound of it, and still the tears came when they pleased. So sit with your friend and hand them no schedule. Say the beloved's name out loud, for your friend is starving to hear it in someone else's mouth. Bring food you did not ask them to thank you for. Stay past the hour when the casseroles stop arriving, because that is when the house gets loudest. And if you have no wisdom to offer, offer the next best thing: your shoulder, your silence, and a harp if you happen to be carrying one. The LORD is near the brokenhearted, and He is in no hurry. Neither should you be.

– David, son of Jesse
Letters answered in the voice of the biblical King David.
